But the label doesn't necessarily mean Apple has tested every foldable-specific feature or verified that an app works flawlessly.

Night mode can turn a dark porch into a glowing Halloween scene, but depending on how dark the scene is, the capture can stretch to several seconds, Apple says. That's exactly what trips people up once trick-or-treaters start moving.

A Samsung Galaxy phone can meet every obvious requirement, Bluetooth enabled, signed into the same Google Account, and fully updated, and still refuse to show up as an option under ChromeOS's Connected devices setup.

Calling a contact with more than one saved number through Android Auto has always meant one extra step: picking home, work, or mobile before the call actually connects. A teardown of a daily Android Auto build suggests that step might finally disappear, surfacing what's being described as an Android Auto preferred phone number feature buried in a set of unfinished code strings (Android Police, yesterday).

Apple's Apple Pencil compatibility page, published two days ago, lists only two styluses for the iPad mini (A17 Pro): Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C) (Apple Support, published two days ago). Apple Pencil (2nd generation) still appears on that same page, but only under the outgoing iPad mini (6th generation), not the new model.

Google opened applications this week for its Android Registered App Stores (RAS) program, a certification that lets approved third-party stores install apps with a single tap and update them in the background, similar to how the Play Store already works (dig.watch, this week). The feature itself doesn't show up for users until December 1, 2026, and even then only on phones running Android 17 QPR2 or later, in a set of "select regions" Google hasn't fully named, through stores that have actually...

A hidden system app called Glowbar Disco turns that same strip into a customizable, music-reactive light show, and figuring out how to find Glowbar Disco on Googlebook means digging past the regular app launcher into the system settings menu.

A failed WinRE servicing update, a reagentc /enable error, or an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE message after entering recovery can trace back to different root causes, including recovery-partition problems, encryption-related registration issues, or a storage driver unavailable to the recovery image. WinRE Manager v49 is a third-party, developer-maintained PowerShell tool designed to diagnose and repair several of those failure modes.

ITavisen reports that Google's own support documentation confirms phone number verification is enabled by default on Android, automatically verifying a number and adding it to every Google account signed in on that device. That covers current and future accounts and phone numbers, not just the one account used to set up the phone in the first place.

The documented discount on a Roku Pro Series OLED TV sale belongs to the standard 120Hz model, not the faster 144Hz Pro Series LX OLED. During a past sale event, Amazon had the 55-inch Pro Series OLED at $699.99 and the 65-inch at $799.99, well under the set's $999.99 and $1,199.99 list prices (Tom's Guide, two weeks ago). The standard model is confirmed available nationwide on Amazon right now; the pricier LX was only announced for an October 2026 launch, and no sale price has been documented...

Apple has closed so much of the feature gap between its standard and Pro earbuds that the AirPods 5 vs AirPods Pro 3 decision isn't really a spec-sheet question anymore. It comes down largely to whether an open-ear bud resting against your ear beats a sealed tip sitting inside your ear canal.

Apple's first foldable iPhone goes on sale this Friday, Oct. 23, after preorders opened Oct. 16. The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, and Apple says the device has an IP68 dust-and-water rating and a stiffer polymer cover layer to protect the folding display.

An RC follows several rounds of beta testing, and 9to5Mac reports Apple is now putting the final touches on the update. Google began rolling out Gemini Personal Intelligence on Android Auto on October 20, letting the assistant use information from connected Google services, including Gmail and Photos, to personalize responses and assist with tasks such as navigation. Google has confirmed that it encrypts and stores a user's enrolled selfie video on its own servers, rather than only on the device used to record it. That server-side storage is intentional. For apps that show an active Uninstall command, Settings is the supported path to remove them in Windows 11: open the three-dot menu, click Uninstall, done. Try that on certain preinstalled apps, though, and Uninstall is grayed out or missing, with the app sometimes listed under System Components instead. Learning how to remove system apps in Windows 11 starts with understanding that label, because it often means removal isn't offered through the normal path for that particular app.
